How to Improve Polycystic Kidney Disease Prognosis

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a genetic disorder that affects an estimated 4 to 6 million people worldwide (1). In Denmark, the prevalence of ADPKD has been estimated to be one per 1000 people, and it accounts for approximately 8% of patients who are on renal replacement therapy (RRT) (2,3). ADPKD is a genetically heterogeneous disease with mutations in two genes, PKD1 andPKD2, which accounts for 85 and 15% of cases, respectively (4,5).
