Why PKD Patient Can't Smoking

Why Polycystic Kidney Disease don’t Smoking
Can polycystic kidney disease patients smoke?Answer is no!Even though we know smoking is harmful for our health, we can still see people who love to smoke everywhere.

Many PKD patients especially male patients they should give up Smoking.Because tobacco contains large amount of nicotine which is a toxic material and it can cause vasoconstriction and arteriosclerosis thus reducing the blood flow in the kidneys and other internal organs.

Smoking has many disadvantages.Smoking predominantly affects the lungs and cause lung cancer. What is more, we know that hypertension is one of the most common complications of ADPKDS and nearly all the patients will have high blood pressure in the end stage.Nicotine can cause vasoconstriction, promote arteriosclerosis and reduce blood supply and blood flow in the kidneys. On one hand, this makes high blood pressure even harder to control and worsen PKD.

On the other hand, smoking can damage the upper respiratory tract and lung and make PKD patients more susceptible to colds, infections and pneumonia. Infections in the lung and trachea will in turn worsen PKD.

Therefore it is recommended that smokers to get rid of smoking and non-smokers to stay away from tobacco so as to avoid aggravation of hypertension and PKD.
