Many patients with PKD are asking whether Vitamin is healthful for their health and for their recovery from PKD. As for this question, I want to give my advice in the following. Hope to help you.

The supplement of Vitamin E may protect your kidneys from free-radical damage. In experiments with rats, experts found that a dietary deficiency of Vitamin E led to progressive and obvious renal damage. Vitamin E has shown its function in suppressing the free radicals that cause tubulointerstitial damage.

From that view we can see that, patients with PKD could eat some Vitamin E. Among various kinds of foods, plant oil contains more Vitamin E compared with other foods. Besides, the foods that contain more Vitamin E are also including kiwi fruit, nut such as apricot, walnut, sunflower, maize, cabbage, lettuce, etc. Besides those, such kinds of milk, eggs, cod-liver oil also have a certain kinds of Vitamin E.

Vitamin C intake should not exceed 150-200 mg/day in patients with renal insufficiency. Excess intake results in accumulation of ascorbic acid metabolites, such as oxalate, and can predispose patients to deposition of calcium oxalate complexes in vessels and tissues.

Vitamin D deficiency is a common problem among those with polycystic kidney disease. muscle spasms, fractures and may even increase your risk of death if you have polycystic kidney disease. Fortunately, this condition can be treated with a vitamin D supplement prescribed by your doctor.

Vitamin A promotes the growth of body cells and tissues; helps protect against infection, essential for night vision.

Vitamin K .Helps make blood clotting proteins, important for healthy bone formation.
